MTN Backup Service

MTN Backup is a service that provides MTN subscribers with a simple way to keep phone and SIM contacts safe on a secure MTN online account.

It enables you to save both the contacts on your SIM and those on your handset. You can backup up to 200 contacts on your SIM and up to 5000 contacts on your mobile phone.

This means that, if anything happens to your phone or SIM, you can simply restore your data to your new mobile phone or SIM.

How do I Get Started?

Text “Start” to 307
Go to the SIM Menu “MTN Service” available on the MTN 128k SIM.

To Check Backup Status text “Status” to 307

How much Does It Cost?

New customers pay N100 for the initial request and N50 for subsequent requests to synchronize contacts which have to be performed manually by sending SYNC to 307.

Existing customers pay just N50 for subsequent requests to synchronize contacts which have to be performed manually by sending SYNC to 307.

(Costs apply regardless of the number of contacts backed up)

Note that the service can be deactivated by sending STOP to 307

STEPS TO BACKING UP CONTACTS

VIA PHONE

Go to MTN SIM Plus
Select MTN Backup
Synchronize (First Backup Session cost N100)

VIA THE MTN WEBSITE

Log on to the website - www.mtnonline.com/mtnbackup
Enter username (Phone num in international format i.e. 234706.........)
Enter Password (Or click on forgot password to generate same)
Select phone type under the "Set new phone" Tab if the phone is supported (If Handset is not compatible with MTN Backup, only contacts on SIM will be backed up)
Go to Sync Tab by the top left corner & select Back up now
